As we all morbidly observe, uncomfortable truth often takes a leisurely, circuitous route into the conscious of a conservative. Though recent evidence suggests that racial realities may have actually crossed the blood-brain barrier in certain specimens. In this instance, I’m referring to the herd at Breitbart which, as far as I can discern, has offered a fairly representative sampling of mainstream conservative thought. I saw one publication that listed it as the sixth most influential conservative site on the cobweb. Comment threads periodically run into the thousands. And to the left’s hysterical chagrine…they are actually going there. Here’s what caught my attention: State v. Nation. Yes, someone should write about that.
President Obama’s decision to ignore the law by granting de facto amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants brought to America as children and those who are parents of children with legal status was a terribly foolish act. It will only serve to exacerbate racial tensions.
Polls indicate the overwhelming majority of whites view illegal immigration as threatening. Many see immigrants as taking jobs from native-born Americans, pushing down wages and contributing to cultural decline.
While many may silently harbor racial bigotry [Unsilent racial bigotry presenting no impediment to presidential hopefuls], the adverse economic consequences for whites are real and palpable. Illegal immigration increases the supply of low-skilled workers, and that drives down wages for less educated whites and African-Americans.
Millions of illegals will qualify for work permits and be able to take more visible, better-paying jobs. Native born Americans will face more competition for positions paying significantly above the federal minimum. For example, those paying between the averages for the hospitality and construction industries—$17 and $25 per hour, respectively. Exacerbating racial tensions among highly skilled professionals, elite universities, reflecting years of pressure from the Department of Education, divide admissions along informal racial quotas, and that disadvantages white applicants.
A group called Students for Fair Admissions has brought suit in federal court against Harvard and the University of North Carolina charging that the practice discriminates against Asians, who tend to be the best academically qualified racial group. If they prevail, and given the inclinations of the administration to pressure schools to admit African-Americans and Hispanics, even more white applicants would be squeezed out of top universities their antecedents founded and endowed.
Already many academically qualified children of successful white professionals are denied access to universities of the same status their parents attended, and consequently face much diminished career and lifetime earnings prospects. The president’s recent actions will increase the pools of Hispanic and Asian college immigrants and applicants and further exacerbate intergenerational downward economic mobility among whites.
Last fall, when asked if he had the authority to end the deportation of illegal aliens, Obama responded, “Actually, I don’t,” and he explained that he could not appease immigrant advocates by violating the law. Many Hispanics and Asians come from countries with recent histories of authoritarian governments or governments where a single party has maintained control, and national leaders simply do what populist sentiments requires—the law be damned.
Appeasing Hispanic and Asian voters—that is exactly what president Obama did with his executive order granting de facto amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants.
It is not difficult to see why many white Americans would perceive illegal immigration as undermining their culture and the rule of law—and see Democrats as opportunists who would trash the constitution to maintain their grasp on power. No one should be surprised that large majorities voted for Republican congressional candidates in November and Governor Romney in 2012.
Given the concentration of Hispanics, Asians, and African-Americans in New York, California, and several swing states like Virginia, the Democrats have a good shot at winning most presidential elections in coming years. However, white voters still account for about 70 of the eligible voters, and given their particular dominance in more-sparsely populated states and the south, Republicans will likely continue to hold the House and Senate most of the time.
Still, the Constitution does not provide white Americans with a remedy when a president bypasses congress and abuses executive power to satisfy a constituency that puts its agenda above the rule of law. Impeachment is not a viable option, and Republicans lawmakers face uncertain prospects at best for successfully challenging executive orders in federal court.
Whites face a government that is explicitly working against their interests, the economic prospects of their children, and democratic processes they have spent more than 200 years defending.
If that is not a recipe for racial animus, I don’t know what is.
I don’t need to advise readers of how remarkable this piece is. Not for its content, which can be found more honestly and passionately elsewhere, but for where it appeared and the unapologetic manner in which it is presented. It speaks matter-of-factly on the legitimacy of white interests, and does so with only one mild qualifying cringe. You may have detected that I am rarely prone to bouts of optimism, but this is a very material sea-change. If similar reflections were to appear in a major outlet in the next few months, then on it will be. This time next year may find your host with an op-ed slot at the New York Times. Though before that certain eventuality, Breitbart still isn’t finished.
Truthfully, the angry and sullen reactions of those who wanted Wilson tried are understandable. They’re understandable because most Americans live in the evidence-free narrative created by malicious media liars, and the politicians they enable. They live in the evidence-free world of the political left, which maintains that America remains deeply racist, that every white cop is Bull Connor, and that every black man shot by police is a Selma marcher. So long as they live in that world, racial reconciliation will remain a dream, and racial polarization will remain a tool of the political and media elite to sell papers, raise cash, and drive votes.
Obviously this is much thinner gruel, tilting toward the “liberals are the real racists” school of thought that remains perpetually without traction. This because every sentient being correctly intuits that liberals are pro-black. They certainly are “real racists,” though not in the manner these tribunes can bring themselves to claim. Though the positive result here being found in the headline: Lying Racial Narrative. The more formerly colorblind respectocons that digest this concept, the better.
And while we all may smile at such rare glimmers, the left is predictably less sanguine.
Sometimes the deepest insight is mined from the smallest gestures. Do you wonder what those single-quotes around ‘whites’ signify in the title? That whites are fictitious? The author’s personal opinion? Does ‘Raw Story’ stab other ‘races’ with that downward arcing ‘punctuation?’ Let’s read:
In a race-baiting piece written for the Breitbart.com website, an economics and business professor from the University of Maryland criticized President Obama’s executive actions on immigration, saying that white Americans now face a government that is “explicitly working against their interests” and “the prospects of their children.”
Written by Peter Morici, who also serves as a Fox News contributor, the professor claims that Obama’s decision to temporarily forestall the deportation of over 5 million undocumented immigrants will “exacerbate racial tensions” with white Americans as they see their income and employment prospects negatively affected.
Admitting that many white Americans “may silently harbor racial bigotry,” Morici claims that the “adverse economic consequences for whites are real and palpable.”
“Millions of illegals will qualify for work permits and be able to take more visible, better-paying jobs. Native born Americans will face more competition for positions paying significantly above the federal minimum,” he writes. “For example, those paying between the averages for the hospitality and construction industries—$17 and $25 per hour, respectively.”
However, according to a survey conducted by the Brookings Institute, the most recent economic evidence suggests that, on average, immigrant workers actually increase the opportunities and incomes of Americans. [That’s great news. How soon can 40 million Nigerians get here to increase my opportunities and income?]
According to the institute’s survey of academic literature, “economists do not tend to find that immigrants cause any sizable decrease in wages and employment of U.S.-born citizens (Card 2005), and instead may raise wages and lower prices in the aggregate.”
Morici laments the college prospects of white college applicants, often called “legacies,” who wish to attend the same universities their parents did, saying they would be “squeezed out of top universities their antecedents founded and endowed.”
Morici also claimed that “academically qualified children of successful white professionals are denied access to universities of the same status their parents attended, and consequently face much diminished career and lifetime earnings prospects,” when forced to compete with “the pools of Hispanic and Asian college immigrants and applicants,” covered by the executive actions.
In his piece, Morici failed to note that the “native born Americans,” whose prospects are diminished by immigration reform, include the children of undocumented immigrants who were born in the United States, automatically conferring upon them U.S citizenship. Under the terms of Obama’s plan, the parents of those children would be also be allowed to stay in the country — keeping their families intact — providing they have been in the U.S. since January 1, 2010.[As we’ve explained previously, ‘families’ can only remain intact in America. No where else.]
Morici says that the new policies — done to appease “Hispanic and Asian voters” — provide Democrats with an advantage in electoral vote-rich states like California, New York, and Virginia that have higher concentrations of non-white voters. Morici notes that “white voters still account for about 70 of the eligible voters,” concentrated in more-sparsely populated states and the South.
Despite those numbers, Morici writes, “the Constitution does not provide white Americans with a remedy when a president bypasses Congress and abuses executive power to satisfy a constituency that puts its agenda above the rule of law.”
He concludes, “Whites face a government that is explicitly working against their interests, the economic prospects of their children, and democratic processes they have spent more than 200 years defending.”
Did you notice how passively alien the writer’s voice is here? It’s an increasingly common tactic from the less imaginative on the left. When refutation is impossible, one merely repeats opposing positions under the assumption that they will be scuttled by weight of heresy alone. Just look at what he said! That’s NOT ok.
As one would expect, the commentariat is far more animated. Here are the most recent comments, not cherry picked for poignancy.

Yeah, right. No job opportunities because Juan is here a cutting your grass. He probably also raided your pension fund, loaded your business down with debt and then chopped it up and sold it off(taking his commission off the top, of course) before making sure any other well paying job was shipped overseas so immigrants who had the good sense to stay in their home countries could steal your job without even running afoul of border patrols and idiot militias.
And they all lived crappily ever after. Another right wing fairy tale for the common folk.

According to Conservatives, if everything is not biased in favor of rich white people, then it is unfair and biased.

Oh my, Mr Professor. You gave words to why some white folks act and do the things they do…trying to maintain this alleged white supremacy. Mr. Professor, that big lie falls short day by day. Your whole heritage is built on bull crap, built on the blood and backs of minorities, immigrants. You riled that the president is creating this big divide, and white people are the losers…it’s about time to set some fairness in this country. Get over it.

These people have to be racist, how else can anyone think this thinking is right? You must have it in your veins like Sessions and his ilk. These idiots can not except what our Constitution explicitly states ..That All Men are Equal. They are sort of like the Terrorist that no one can/will change their minds because that is what they blindly believe, to the detriment to the rest of us.

Tony, it’s about their wanting to maintained the alleged ‘white supremacy’ that has been fed to them living in the mother’s womb…. nothing more nothing less.
There’s more in abundance for those with the taste for it. In the meantime, I will retire from you bigots to re-read my copy of the constitution that explicitly states All Men are Equal. Good day, sirs.
