I have a friend who is an honest intelligent middle-aged nerd. Mild and unassuming. A man who couldn’t lead a frat boy to poon, a youth to leisure, or an AIPAC-American to a penny. But a loyal conscientious man not inclined to think ill of others.
A few months ago he called me in apoplexy. A daughter of a family friend–a pretty college-age girl–had been slaughtered by a black female in one of the country’s countless racial coverup crimes. Those few who bother to archive the victims of this unilateral race war may recall her name from passing mention in similar hate-sites. She was a happy normal girl. A father’s light. But only a white girl after all…unremarkable and unremarked upon…disposable…nothing really to mention. And from the media, nothing really was. I have explained much of our situation to him in the past; but now he began to feel.
Sometime later, I received this text from him:
Just found out my brother-in-law was the victim of a “knockout game” over the weekend. A racial hate crime is what it was. They continued to beat him even though he was unconscious.
My optimistic idealism is history.
Soon to be replaced by a more adaptive idealism one hopes. But more animating than that was the incipient flowering of a proscribed emotion still bound by brittle layers of civility. I think you know the one. But it is unfortunate to require such a personally painful smelling-salt to arouse the narcoleptic. He is justifiably livid at these aggressions, though was sanguine at all those preceding. So who but his erstwhile haters–the racists he once renounced–does he expect to commiserate with him now? He didn’t pick up the phone to call a liberal. And I imagine the anguish of bereavement–and its resulting epiphanies–will lead a great many others into mental frames far removed from anti-racism.
A more public example of cardiac firming, presumably not one born of violence, was on offer from Miss Coulter who came perilously close to going there.
Between having Republican presidential candidates fly to Las Vegas to kiss his ring, billionaire Sheldon Adelson has managed to fit in time to talk Sen. Lindsey Graham into sponsoring a bill banning Internet gambling.
As you may know, Sheldon Adelson is a CASINO OWNER. Internet gambling would compete with his casino business.
On the other hand, when it comes to the services Adelson isn’t selling, but buying — low-skilled workers — he’s for unbridled competition, preferring not to limit the supply even to people who are legally in the United States. (Weirdly, so is Lindsey Graham!)
Adelson is a big backer of amnesty, telling The Wall Street Journal: “It would be inhumane to send those people back, to send 12 million people out of this country. … So we’ve got to find a way, find a route for those people to get legal citizenship.”…
Adelson is an especially telling example of the self-interest of businessmen on immigration. His newspaper, Israel Today, the largest newspaper in Israel, is wildly patriotic on immigration (and everything else).
Israel Today has trumpeted the success of the 15-foot razor-wire fence along Israel’s 140-mile border with Egypt, triumphantly noting last August that, for the first time, “no infiltrations were recorded from the Egyptian border, compared to 193 from the same month last year.”
Adelson himself had suggested just such a policy to the Los Angeles Times last year, saying he wanted to “Put a big fence around our country.”
By “our country,” he, of course, meant Israel. In America, he wants illegal immigrants pouring across the border to provide him with an endless supply of cheap labor.
Recently, Israel has been “rounding up” African refugees, giving them $3,500 and plane tickets to Uganda, to encourage them to “self-deport.” Welcome to El Al Airlines. We’re about to begin pre-boarding for Flight 259, offering non-stop, one-way service to Kampala, Uganda. At this time we’d like to invite our premium-plus illegal immigrants to board.
Wait! I thought we couldn’t “round up” any illegal immigrants! I thought “self-deportation” was a laughable idea! Say, could Adelson buy The New York Times and start pushing those policies here?…
Adelson might want to hang onto that Israeli citizenship, in case his preferred policy of amnesty ever does go through: His low-wage workers don’t have especially enlightened views of the Jewish people.
Well damn. I think Ol Shel just got invited to make aliyah. Though if the term “enlightened” is going to remain shackled to its definition, rather than succumb to use as a synonym for “patsy,” we can hardly claim the mantle.
Yet there is some hope to be mined from my friend’s despair and Miss Coulter’s irrational anti-semitism. Both black violence and jewish hypocrisy rise about 70 decks over the waterline in western society. They require billions of dollars in constant propaganda and armies of apparatchiks to keep people walking along the shore swearing to not see a thing. Many are so adept that they require no further tutelage and will fulminate against racism–white racism alone–autonomously on cue. These are the studious pupils.
In contrast, we delinquents seem to never learn no matter the remedial efforts. And as both of those great vessels of anti-white hostility rise inexorably higher, the costs of keeping the populace enlightened is going graph much like the federal debt. Perhaps we will bear that cost to our last breath. But in the interim, expect many more texts, whispers, and soon enough shouts of:
My optimistic idealism is history.
In odium fraternitas.
